Item 27 Fishing in Argyll

Fishing in Argyll

One day’s fishing for Salmon, Seatrout and Brown Trout in Appin, Argyll at a time and date to be agreed with the owner.

Loch Baile Mhic Chailein (or Fasnacloich Loch) covers about 39 acres over which the Estate has exclusive rights to salmon and seatrout fishing. There is a stone jetty and boathouse down the bank from the house. A boat is provided. A ghillie will be available to assist with orientation and advice.

The Creran is a spate river of 7 miles and draining some 35 square miles of the hinterland. It fishes best when the water is high. Fasnacloich has 6 miles of the north bank with the opposite bank being owned by the neighbouring private estate. The river fishes best in high water with the best fly water being below the loch. The Creran District Salmon Fishery Board manages the river and has a policy of total Catch and Release.
